Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University established by Government of NCT of Delhi under the provisions of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998.The University is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), India under section 12B of UGC Act. The University has been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 Certification by Standardization, Testing and Quality Certification Directorate, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India, for a period of three years. The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) offers Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with an aim to imbibe knowledge, develop understanding of the various methods and approaches of organizing learning experiences for secondary school students. The admission to the B.Ed. programmes offered by various institutes affiliated by the university is done on the basis of the B.Ed. Entrance Exam.
The present book for GGSIPU B.Ed. Entrance Exam 2018 has been divided into four parts namely English Comprehension, Mental Ability/Reasoning, General Awareness and Teaching Aptitude, each divided into number of chapters as per the syllabi of GGSIPU B.Ed. Entrance Exam 2018. Each chapter in the book contains ample number of solved questions which have been designed on the lines of the questions asked in previous years’ GGSIPU B.Ed. Entrance Exam. The Teaching Aptitude section covers an introduction to teaching aptitude, education & society, child psychology, educational psychology, communication, leadership and teaching as profession. The English Comprehension section has been covered comprehensively for thorough knowledge of the basics of English grammar & comprehension, whereas the Mental Ability/ Reasoning section covers both Verbal as well as Non-Verbal Reasoning Ability. To ensure section wise revision and sharpening of the skills of students, self practice sets have been given at the end of each section. Also Solved Papers of last four years’ (2010-2018) B.Ed. Entrance Exam have been provided in the book to give an upper edge to the preparation of the aspirants.

Objectives of the Course:

· To acquaint them with respect to the role of different agencies in the healthy development of children. Course Content:

· Theories of Growth and Development (with reference to the influence of childhood experiences on later personality) (a) Freudís Theory of Psycho-sexual development
(b) Jean Piagetís theory of Cognitive Development
(c) Ericksonís theory of Psycho Social Development
(d) Kohlbergís Theory of Moral Development
II : Childhood and Development
· Physical- Motor Development
(a) Growth and Maturation
(b) Development of Gross and Fine Motor Skills

Practical Assignments/Field Engagement:

· Studentís teachers to collate about ten newspaper articles that involve issues of parenting and childhood analyse these and hold discussions.
· Hands-on Experience of Studying Children and varying contexts in Childhood by undertaking a detailed Case Study of a child.
· The students can identify any child to understand 5-14 year old children in diverse contexts and use case profile method to study her.
· The teacher educator could organize the class in such a manner that different students profile children from varied socio-economic backgrounds. This would allow for a wide range of data which could be subsequently analysed in groups. The task could be helpful in understanding and supporting developmental and educational needs of the marginalized learner; first- generation learners, street children and slum children; children with special needs.
